

The title character is Elizabeth Woodville, also known as Queen consort of England. She was thought to be a witch, descended from Mesulina. Jacquetta was the mother of 14 children by her second husband. She eventually sided with the House of York after her daughter, Elizabeth Woodville, married the new King Edward IV. She was married for a short time to the brother of King Henry V which allied her with the House of Lancaster.


The title character is Jacquetta of Luxembourg, also known as Countess Rivers.

Here is a quick summary of the main characters. Almost all of the main characters interact and are featured in each other’s books. You could read them in many different orders but I think they should be read in the following order, based on the year in which the protagonist was in power: “The Lady of the Rivers”, “The White Queen”, “The Kingmaker’s Daughter”, “The Red Queen” and finally “The White Princess”. After watching the miniseries though, I am going to re-read all of those books as well as: “The White Princess” and “The Lady of the Rivers”. They are “The White Queen”, “The Red Queen” and “The Kingmaker’s Daughter”. I had previously read all of the Philippa Gregory‘s books on which the miniseries was based. Since I just finished Starz’s “The White Queen” miniseries, let’s start there.
